Bachelor of Arts from Wheelock College, Boston, MA
Hello, I am Yvonne Martens, and I am so happy to be here at Immanuel. There is definitely something special about this campus and community. As an Immanuel Alumni, I am excited to teach here, as well as have a child attending the school. Go Eagles!! I was born and raised here in Reedley. My husband, Jason, and I just celebrated our eleventh anniversary. God has blessed us with two precious little ones. Grace is in kindergarten and, our son Carter, is a spirited one and a half year old.
I have been teaching for approximately nine years. Most of my teaching experience has been in the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th grades. Each grade and age has its special characteristics. I am delighted to be a part of the sixth grade team and look forward to finding ways to make learning fun, engaging, and creative.
This year, we will work on building character within ourselves and as a team. While learning and understanding God’s grace, love, and kindness toward us, we will work on extending the same toward others. As we study some of the great prophets of the Bible, we will strive to make connections with their experiences and apply them to our lives today.
1 Peter 3:8: “Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.” Our school-wide theme this year is “Be Transformed.” My prayer for myself, as well as my students, is to grow in Christ and bear the fruit of His Spirit, being uniquely transformed to demonstrate sympathy, love, compassion, and humility.
