Class: JH Industrial Arts

Overview:

Junior High Industrial Arts introduces the students to the basic tools and techniques of woodworking.  The course of study includes tool and shop safety, basic tools, blueprint reading, and woodworking skills. The class includes the building of projects that help the student learn about cutting, wood joints, drilling, fastening, assembly, and finishing.  It also endeavors to teach the basic skills of home construction techniques. This class encourages the development of hands on woodworking skills

• Shop orientation (grading/attendance/respect agreement/fees)
• Shop organization and management
• Shop/Tool Safety
• Measuring skills
• Reading plans/blueprints
• Basic Tool usage (sawing, drilling, hammering)
• Basic Finishing of projects
• Project choices
